Supervised Visitation Program

Non-custodial parents are able to visit with minor children in the presence of the Supervised Visitation Coordinator, who is responsible for observing the visit and who seeks to ensure the safety of the children involved, and if needed, to provide support, set limits, or make suggestions. This program assures that children have satisfying, safe, and productive visits with a lacking parent without being put in the middle of the parent’s conflicts or other problems. The program helps parents who are going through a familial crisis (such as separation, divorce, domestic violence, abuse or neglect) an opportunity to maintain contact with their children while other alternatives for visitation are being explored. With her main objective being the emotional and physical safety and well being of the children, the Supervised Visitation Coordinator is present during the entire visit, monitoring the activities of the parents. The program assists parents in understanding the importance of continued contact of both parents with their children. It reduces friction between parents, establishes regular and dependable visitation schedules, and promotes good visits in the hope of reunifying the family. This service is provided to families at no charge.

Visits will take place at the Vicksburg Child Abuse Prevention Center at 1529 Walnut Street Suite A. Play activities are provided, and the parents are encouraged to bring appropriate food to share with their children.
