Violence & Drug
Abuse Prevention Program
Our Goal In a continuing effort to help promote a safe school environment, the Vicksburg Child Abuse Prevention Center joined
hands with the Vicksburg Warren School District to launch a Violence and Drug Abuse Prevention Program.
A major step in combating violence in the schools is to educate the students on how to handle conflicts and manage anger. The program goals are to teach youth how to deal with anger non aggressively, solve problems nonviolently, and resist pressures to consume drugs.
The program not only teaches youth anger management skills, but also benefits the academic learning process. It provides teachers more time to spend educating, and less time solving classroom disputes, breaking up fights, and disciplining problem behaviors.
Method to Achieve Goals The Vicksburg Child Abuse Prevention Center program coordinator and volunteers will provide Violence and Drug Abuse Prevention presentations to each K through 6th grade classrooms at least four times during a school year.
Who does the Program Serve?
- Vicksburg Warren School District (K-6th grades)
